Friend, the beginning of July was the hottest week on record for the planet as a whole. The climate crisis is here – and while our communities have to face record-breaking heat and unbreathable air, the people responsible for killing the planet are living it up in the Hamptons.
That’s why we’re bringing the fight to them for 4 days of direct actions in the Hamptons, and we need your help. Can you chip in to help us transport and feed climate and housing activists to take on the 1%?
Every day, working-class people are bombarded with campaigns to curb climate change through lifestyle changes, like switching to paper straws and glass containers. While these are important steps, they can’t even touch the real culprit destroying the planet at rapid speed – the 1%.
According to Oxfam, a billionaire produces a MILLION times the emissions as the average person. A-list celebrities, politicians, and billionaires are flying on private jets multiple times a week, with zero accountability for how their travel accelerates air pollution and gas emissions. We must hold the 1% accountable for killing the planet and demand that they pay for a fossil-free, livable New York.
Starting today, we’re kicking off 4 days of actions in the Hamptons to disrupt “vacation as usual” for the ultra-rich. We’re following the money to their private jets, yachts, second homes, and secluded recreation spots to demand accountability for their climate destruction.
We’re ready to bring our people power to the 1%, but transporting hundreds of activists to the Hamptons isn’t cheap. We need your support – can you chip in with $10 or $15 to cover transportation and food costs for activists?
The urgency is clear: Black, brown, working-class, and poor New Yorkers are already being hit hardest by the climate crisis. We know who’s responsible and we have to make sure billionaires pay what they owe to protect the planet – and we need the resources to keep bringing the fight to the 1%.
Friend, can you make a contribution today to help transport and feed activists in the Hamptons during our 4 days of action? Every dollar counts and means we can bring our power in full force to the 1% ‘s playground.
Thanks for all you do,
Alice Hu, NYCC
