Every American should be able to live and work free from government intrusion. But all too often regular people’s lives are turned upside down due to abusive state overreach.
Whether stealing life savings under the guise of civil forfeiture or conducting warrantless searches of vehicles as part of a largescale fishing expedition, government run amok tampers with every American’s ability to pursue their dreams.
But unchecked power has met its match. Join IJ with a donation today ([link removed] ) and stand with us as we defend hardworking Americans facing overwhelming threats to their homes, their livelihoods, and their children’s futures.
Here’s just a few of the ways IJ is defending constitutional rights across the country:
- We launched the newest case within our Project on the 4th Amendment—designed to restore constitutional protections for privacy and private property. This time we’re taking on phony traffic stops used as a cover for fishing expeditions to search—and seize—property.
- Our client Cristal Starling is fighting to have her day in court after police seized her life savings during the arrest of her ex-boyfriend. Our initiative to end civil forfeiture has returned more than $21.5 million in wrongly seized assets to their rightful owners, repeatedly affirming that the government cannot permanently seize an innocent person’s life savings or other property without any evidence of wrongdoing.
- A hardworking immigrant is now able to start and grow a small business thanks to a quick economic liberty victory in Idaho. Together with IJ’s broader strategic win in Georgia this spring, this victory is part of the long-term impact we’ve generated through litigation and advocacy nationwide to affirm the right to earn an honest living.
This is just a glimpse of what our supporters make possible. And with 94 active cases, we’re preparing to reach new heights of success in our defense of constitutional freedoms. But we cannot get there alone.
Please consider donating to IJ today ([link removed] ) and stand with IJ and our heroic clients as we charge forward together.
Thank you,
