John,
Early voting begins 10 weeks from today on Friday, Sept. 22 and my team and I are doing everything we need to get our message out to voters so we win big this Nov. 7.
Some good news– last weekend, we knocked more than 1,000 doors and since July 1, we have received more than 400 individual donations! We are crushing our goals and that’s thanks to all of the support we have received from you all.
Some not so good news– my Republican challenger released his first attack ad against me and it's so implausibly wrong from someone who’s sat out every single major land use fight we’ve had in western Prince William County throughout the last 17 years before launching his campaign this March.
I, on the other hand, spent nine years on the front lines of those fights as a newspaper reporter and the last six years as a legislator. That’s why we passed my bill to ban above-ground transmission lines along the I-66 corridor between Gainesville and Haymarket.
And to think it was only five weeks ago that my challenger told Potomac Local, “I know Delegate Roem has spoken very passionately about the data centers.” Truly a lifetime ago in politics…
Also, no joke, you could make his attack ad in Microsoft Paint on Windows 98, complete with black lettering on a red background with a black & white spooooooky version of me. (Note: my campaign doesn’t run black & white ads of the other candidate. Ever.)
But hey, if they want to waste money, that's fine: we'll just raise more from this email than that image is even worth.
So that's my ask: to counter his graphic that looks like it was made in 1998 (June 25 was the 25th anniversary of Windows 98, after all), please help me raise $1,998 today by donating now.
The $1,998 we will raise today will go to growing our ground game so we can actually do what wins campaigns: have quality conversations with the people of western Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park.
I’m running to keep fixing roads, feeding kids and preserving our environment and civil rights as we work to make Virginia a more inclusive commonwealth. Let’s go win this Nov. 7.
