Dear John,
Last week Congress held a hearing for the Women’s Health Protection Act. I was there to support and prepare our Board Member, Dr. Yashica Robinson, who came all the way from Alabama to testify about how vital this legislation is for protecting abortion access nationwide.
Dr. Yashica Robinson and me directly behind her on the right.
While several members of Congress repeated misinformation and outright lies about abortion access and care, Dr. Robinson shared the truth about the impact of medically unnecessary abortion restrictions on real people, her patients—and the financial hardships, delays, and shaming they have to endure just to get abortion care.
Watch Dr. Robinson’s entire testimony here (starting at 36 minutes). Also testifying were advocate Holly Alvarado, who described the barriers she faced accessing abortion care, and the Center for Reproductive Rights’ CEO Nancy Northup, who explained the current state of abortion access in the U.S.
The Women’s Health Protection Act would bring needed federal protection for access to abortion care across the country, no matter your zip code.
Because of supporters like you, I’m privileged to work on this critical legislation with dedicated physicians like Dr. Robinson. They are tireless advocates for their patients and put their lives and careers on the line to protect patients.
Representative Anna Eshoo said it best at the end of the hearing: “It takes courage to have courage.” And our courageous physician advocates will not stop speaking out until everyone has the reproductive health care they need.
Thank you for your support,
