I have worked at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) since July of 2017 when I started as the Administrator at our Fergus Falls Veterans Home. In January of 2021, I had the opportunity to relocate to be the Administrator at our Luverne Veterans Home. My wife and I are originally from Sioux Falls, SD and being closer to home with two young children has been great for our family.
Prior to working at MDVA, I worked as a nursing home administrator in the private sector for two different organizations in South Dakota and Minnesota. I have always enjoyed working in nursing homes, but MDVA has been the best place I have ever worked in my career, and it is not close. We are so fortunate to have the resources and support to provide top level care for our Veterans and Residents. We were not always so fortunate in the private sector.
In my time with MDVA, it has become clear to me that the primary reason we provide such a high level of care in our Veterans Homes is because of our dedicated staff members. I feel strongly that we have some of the most dedicated, committed and caring staff members in the industry. We are very fortunate to have so many great employees, many of whom have 10+ years of service with the State of Minnesota.
We really have a wonderful team at MDVA and I would specifically like to recognize the teams in Luverne and Fergus Falls as I have witnessed firsthand the outstanding care and services these two teams provide for our Veterans each and every day. I would highly recommend MDVA as a great place to work!
