Dear Friend, You wouldn’t wine and dine tobacco executives if you were leading a national campaign against lung cancer, would you? Why, then, were our “climate-champion” Liberal friends cozying up to executives from the Royal Dutch Shell, and sending two federal ministers to praise them as “partners”? Missed it? Here’s the rundown: Innovation, Science and Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne proudly shared on social media his pleasure in hosting Shell's global board of directors meeting alongside Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson. He called Shell a "reliable partner" and expressed the belief that together they can pave the way for a green economy. However, this meeting raises serious questions about the Liberal government's commitment to fighting climate change and protecting our environment. This meeting highlights a clear reality: our Liberal friends are either extraordinarily naive or downright twisted. How can anyone claim to be climate champions while cozying up to one of the most harmful oil companies in existence? Shell's own scientists were aware of the detrimental impact their products were causing decades ago. Yet, they took steps to hide this information from the public. These people shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near top cabinet ministers. We, as the Green Party of Canada, cannot let this type of hypocrisy go unchallenged. Climate change is already wreaking havoc on our planet and our country is burning. It's crucial that we continue to hold the government accountable for their actions. But more importantly, we need your help to lay the grounds to replace them. By donating to the Green Party, you are directly contributing to our collective fight against climate change and for the protection of our environment by helping us prepare for the coming general election. Your donation will enable us to continue to raise awareness, advocate for sustainable policies, and work towards a carbon-free Canada. Together, we can make a difference. Every dollar counts and brings us closer to achieving a sustainable and prosperous future for all Canadians. The clock is ticking. Climate change doesn’t wait, elections are coming up anytime and our planet needs Greens solutions now! Thank you for your continued support and commitment to a greener Canada. With gratitude, Jonathan Pedneault |
