John,
We just sent our comment to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) about the business practices of data brokers, how they impact Internet users and their communities.1 The deadline to submit a comment is this Saturday, July 15, 2023. Use this tool to send your comment too and let the CFPB how data brokers have impacted you.
TAKE ACTION
Data brokers make money by tracking your information and selling it to whoever will pay for it—law enforcement, government, corporate entities or even other private individuals. The CFPB launched an inquiry into data broker practices2 with the goal of creating rules to protect consumers from this unregulated but very lucrative profit-making machine. We desperately need rules to address their corporate surveillance, data abuse and other abusive practices. Without meaningful regulations, these companies won’t stop abusing our rights for profit.
We have the chance to stop them. The CFPB needs to hear from people like you to make it clear that we need action NOW. Submit a comment before the deadline to protect yourself and your community.
We’re counting on you,
Ese at Fight for the Future
