John — you may have heard that North Carolina is a target state for Democrats in 2024. I’ve been getting a lot of excited questions from people who want to know if we can really get it done here.

Here’s what I say when folks ask me if Democrats can win NC: We can, we must, and we will.

North Carolina is the epitome of a “purple” state. We have 7 Democratic representatives to the U.S. House and 7 Republican representatives. In 2020, Donald Trump’s narrowest victory came here, winning by just 1.3 points. I won my gubernatorial elections in the same years that Trump carried the state.

Democrats CAN win here — if we have the resources that allow us to compete. And it’s never been more important that we do.

Republicans are going full steam ahead on their agenda of fomenting extremist culture wars. They’ve attacked women, LGBTQ+ North Carolinians, and voters with regressive legislation. We MUST defeat them.
