Earlier this week, Iowa's governor held a one-day special session of the state legislature for the sole purpose of passing a new ban on abortion after approximately six weeks of pregnancy — just weeks after the Iowa Supreme Court kept an almost identical ban blocked.

The legislature passed the new ban on Tuesday night, and Gov. Reynolds said she will sign it tomorrow. If she does, this new ban will take effect immediately.
