Honoring Local Veterans and Finding Solutions to Strengthen Veterans' Services

This month, Joe was joined by AmeriCorps CEO, Michael Smith, to present awards to local veterans who have volunteered to dedicate their time to support fellow veterans in eastern Connecticut. Their work has helped hundreds of veterans in the region receive life-changing benefits and services. Joe is committed to supporting their work to honor and protect veterans, which is why he helped introduce the Honoring our PACT Act to expand veteran healthcare benefits. READ MORE>>

Announcing a New $500,000 Grant to Transform Brownfield Sites in East Hampton

Joe worked to pass the federal Infrastructure Law in 2021, which has now granted a $500,000 investment in East Hampton to transform abandoned properties into residential and business opportunities thanks to the EPA. The EPA's Brownfields Assessment Grants will determine if the community qualifies for additional funding to restore the land contaminated from prior use. Last month, Joe also announced a $1 million federal grant to help New London transform brownfield sites in the city. READ MORE>>

Courtney Leads Lawmakers in Announcing Bipartisan, Bicameral Bill to Help Homeowners with Crumbling Foundations

Joe joined colleagues Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. John Larson and incredible grassroots, homeowner advocates to unveil a bill which would bring tax relief for homeowners who have borne the brunt of the crumbling foundations crisis. The Casualty Loss Deduction Restoration Act would bring back a provision within the IRS tax code which allows homeowners to defray the costs of fixing a home plagued by crumbling foundations. Now, he will begin the work to shepherd it through Washington to bring relief to CT-02 families. READ MORE>>
