This is urgent: Virginia’s legislative elections are just around the corner, and Republicans need to flip just two senate seats to take full control of state government.

We cannot afford to ignore this contest – if Republicans prevail, they could roll back all of our progress.

• Currently, Virginia is one of the only states in the South that still protects the right to choose. If Republicans take control, they could ban abortion statewide.

• In 2018, Virginia was ranked as one of the hardest states to exercise the right to vote – but thanks to robust reforms passed by Democrats, it became one of the easiest states to vote in by 2021. If Republicans take control, they could once again impose strict voter suppression measures.

• In 2020, Virginia voters approved a redistricting commission in an effort to secure fair maps. But if Republicans take control, they could undermine the independence of the commission to enact gerrymandered districts.

Multi-millionnaire Governor Glenn Youngkin is already investing in competitive districts. If we want to ensure that Democrats have the resources they need to win, we have no time to waste.
