Right now we have the power to transform the state of our nursing homes in the United States. We know there is a direct connection between low nursing home staffing and higher rates of falls, rehospitalizations, missed care and mortality. 

A federal standard for safe staffing could significantly improve the level of care for nursing home residents and families who rely on these services. It also would provide workers with much-needed and overdue protections and support.
