Team, we have GREAT news about our fight for fair maps.

FIRST:
The Supreme Court issued a huge victory for our movement in Allen v. Milligan by reaffirming the importance of the Voting Rights Act, striking down Alabama’s congressional maps for illegally diluting the power of Black votes, and requiring Alabama to draw new, fair maps before the next election.

Attorney General Eric Holder called it “a victory for all Americans,” saying it would “have an impact far beyond the borders of Alabama.”

THEN:
Another Supreme Court decision blocked Louisiana’s gerrymandered congressional map, clearing the way for the state to redraw its maps to accurately reflect Black Louisianans.

NOW:
Pending challenges in states like Arkansas, Georgia, and Texas could lead to maps being redrawn in those states as well!

Team, before the next election, so many maps could be redrawn across the country that, according to FiveThirtyEight “this decision could be the difference between Republican and Democratic control of the House.”

We have a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure fair maps and ensure a level playing field ahead of the 2024 election. Will you rush a donation now to help the NDRC continue our critical work – while there’s still time?
