I authored a resolution of support for LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the wake of the Glendale and LAUSD violence; it passed unanimously.

Dear Friend,

The uptick in anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric, hate, intimidation, harassment and violence surrounding the LA Unified School District and Glendale Unified School District in recent months has been quite concerning.

In response, I authored a resolution of support for LGBTQIA+ inclusion that I’m pleased to announce was unanimously passed by the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council.

The resolution will be sent to LA City Council, LAUSD, Glendale City Council, and GUSD—Silver Lake has made it clear we support our LGBTQIA+ students, teachers, friends, families, and neighbors.

Our greater Los Angeles community has always been a warm, welcoming place for queer and trans people like myself. Between pride flags being burnt in school trash cans and stolen from Los Feliz’s Shakespeare Bridge, it troubles me to see hostility to our community brewing.

We must denounce this hate, and stop its spread.

Are you with me?

In solidarity,

Maebe
