John, we knew this race wouldn't be easy.
For decades, Black women candidates have faced significantly more obstacles to getting elected than their white peers, including unfair doubts about their ability to raise money, less support from major donors, gender biases and other structural inequities that make it harder to compete and win statewide. But Barbara Lee is no stranger to tough fights, and she fully intends to win this race. Here’s how:
We don’t need to raise the most money in this race, we just need to raise enough to hit our goals and ensure Rep. Lee has the resources she needs to inform voters of her story and her vision of a progressive future. And we have the polling to prove it: In a recent poll, after showing voters campaign videos from each candidate in this race, Rep. Lee rose to a statistical tie. In fact, among those 18 to 49 years old, her support nearly tripled.
So make no mistake, victory is very much within our reach, John. That’s exactly why progressive champions, like Ro Khanna, Stacey Abrams and Pramila Jayapal, have officially endorsed this campaign, and pundits are saying don’t count Barbara Lee out just yet.

Rep. Lee is ready to take her fight for justice to the Senate, where her lived experience as a Black woman making true progressive change for Californians will give a voice to those who are currently voiceless. But it's going to take every one of us doing our part, and we’re counting on you to help power this campaign forward.
