Friends,
This past week, Americans commemorated our nation's birth, proudly flying the colors our country holds dear. Ours is the greatest nation on Earth and I firmly believe America’s best days lie ahead.
That said, our freedoms must be protected by a strong national defense. That’s why this week in Congress, the House of Representatives will vote on the annual defense authorization bill, also known as the ‘NDAA’. I believe this legislation must include the following reforms:
- End woke policies enabling military drag queen events and Critical Race Theory training—this must stop.
- Reinstate, with full benefits, all troops removed from service over the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
- Prohibit Green New Deal policies within the military.
- Ban sales of U.S. property near sensitive sites, such as military bases, to the Chinese Communist Party.
- Create an Inspector General for Ukraine assistance oversight.
- Focus on enhancing military and industrial base readiness.
This week, Congress will also focus on government weaponization and overreach through the questioning of FBI Director Christopher Wray, Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan, and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.
Lastly, as Congress works on the 2023 Farm Bill, I submitted San Diego and Riverside priorities to the House Agriculture Committee. I appreciate all the local agricultural community members who participated in my Ag summit in North County this year and all who answered my call for local input. My goal is to ensure our regional needs are heard in the Farm Bill drafting process. If you missed it, there is still time to provide your input, and you can do so by calling my district office at (760) 304-7575.
It is an honor to serve our community in Congress. If you have any questions regarding legislative matters, please contact my DC office at (202) 225-5672. If you need casework assistance, please contact our local office at (760) 304-7575.
