Recently, I had the pleasure of chatting with Mary Lahammer after my first session in the Minnesota Senate. This was featured in a PBS show called "Almanac." In this interview, we discuss my first session as a Senator, my approach to legislative service, and my growing up in Fergus Falls. I hope this video provides good context as to how I am fighting for Senate District 9! | Broadband Funding for Senate District 9 | In Senate District 9, the Gardonville Cooperative Telephone – Buckskin will receive an $857,013 grant to expand broadband service to 214 households, home-based businesses and telecommuters in the Alexandria area. | Additionally, Otter Tail Telcom will receive a $2,331,792 grant through the Border-to-Border Broadband Development Grant Program. They recently announced the 2023 Farm Families of the Year: | Congratulations to each of you! Your work for the agricultural industry and the community is so important. Thank you for your hard work! | Families will be recognized at Farmfest in Redwood County this year. The Farm Family of the Year Recognition Ceremony takes places on Thursday, August 3rd at 1:15 pm at the Wick Buildings Farmfest Center. If you plan on attending Farmfest, please stop by and congratulate them! | One of the things I am most proud of from this legislative session was helping secure $300 million for our state's nursing homes. I was interviewed for a Star Tribune editorial that does an excellent job at recapping the deal that Republicans worked on for the funding of our nursing homes. This was an important piece of legislation that will help keep up to 40 nursing homes from closing in Minnesota and this editorial does a good job at explaining this work. | Additionally, there was a severe error found in the tax bill that was passed this year. This bill was rushed through the legislature and was finalized behind closed doors without proper vetting and discussion which resulted in this over $350 million error. Thankfully, the legislature may still be able to fix this before it affects Minnesotans' pocketbooks. While this issue can be fixed in the 2024 legislative session and will be a priority for Senate Republicans, this is exactly why these bills need public hearings. | Finally, I was also blessed to be able to stop by Pelican Valley Senior Living's appreciation lunch in Pelican Rapids. Thank you for all of the work that you do! | Senator Jordan Rasmusson District 9 | |
