Economic Democracy Weekly

Today’s Economic Democracy Weekly focuses on the promises and challenges of building power for the public. We begin with the first article in our series “Owning the Economy: Stories from Latinx Communities,” where Marla Bilonick surveys how communities across the country are organizing against displacement. Next, we offer coverage of last month’s EconCon in Washington DC, where speakers took on the question of how to build public power to serve the public good. Then, we present two clips from our recent webinar “Race for Profit,” where the co-directors from Action Center on Race and the Economy, Saqib Bhatti and Bree Carlson, discuss why capitalism needs racism to function, and how challenging inequality requires taking on corporate power.
