Dear John
Last weekend I took my town centre
tour from one end of London to the other, with street stalls in Harrow and
Bromley.
I really enjoy the sort of casual
chat you can have with people while they’re out shopping. It’s
relaxed, people share with me what they really think and it just feels
like how politics should be done.
I’m going to keep touring London
throughout the campaign, so watch out for a town centre near you
soon.
As Londoners, it’s difficult to not
be thinking about Brexit this week. My journey in the Liberal
Democrats started with fighting for Britain’s future in the European
Union and it hurts to know that, tomorrow, we are leaving.
But what comes next is just as
important. Tomorrow I’ll be speaking about how I will continue to
fight for our pro-European, liberal, internationalist values and my
vision for keeping London global in a post-Brexit world. Do make it if
you can, you can sign up here.
Read on to hear about Hackney’s
edible forest, the spiralling cost of London’s knife crime epidemic
and the launch of my campaign for express night buses for outer
London.
Kind Regards
Siobhan Benita Lib Dem Candidate for
Mayor of London
p.s. If you want to join me on
my travels this weekend, we’re doing a clean up of the River Thames at
Crabtree Wharf in West London. Sign up here.
LOVE
LONDON
I love
this community-led initiative to plant more trees in Hackney. Not only
is it good for the environment, but it brings people together and will
provide tasty treats for walks too!
BETTER
LONDON
The Violence Reduction Unit reports on
the financial cost of knife crime in London. But the human cost is
immeasurable.
We need to get a grip on this crisis,
so I’m encouraged to see the report backs many of the measures I’ve
supported since my time on the Youth Violence Commission.
