Dear John,
We recently reached out to you regarding another one of Biden’s problematic judicial nominees – Loren AliKhan, nominated to be a judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. She has consistently shown a clear disregard for our “first freedom” – the freedom of religion. News just dropped that she is expected to receive a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee TOMORROW.
Will you send a message to your senators urging them to vote NO on AliKhan’s nomination?
If AliKhan’s nomination passes committee, she will receive a vote on the Senate floor, where both Nancy Abudu (SPLC lawyer) and Julie Rikelman (pro-abortion lawyer in the Dobbs case) were recently confirmed. We do not need another judge hostile to our values on the federal bench!
In Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Alikhan argued against houses of worship being free to hire their ministers as they see fit. In ruling unanimously (9-0) for houses of worship, the Supreme Court called her position “untenable” and “hard to square with the text of the First Amendment, which gives special solicitude to the rights of religious organizations.” This is just one of the five instances in which AliKhan has actively fought against protecting Americans’ religious freedom.
Reach out to your senators now and tell them to oppose AliKhan’s nomination to the federal bench!
AliKhan’s consistent disregard for the freedom of religion as enshrined in our constitution demonstrates her anti-religious bias, making her unsuitable to serve on the federal bench where she would adjudicate cases like these for years to come.
Sincerely,
Your Friends at FRC Action
