Hi there,
More than 150,000 people in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)’s North Kivu province have been forcibly displaced by resurgent conflict since the beginning of 2023. This adds to the approximately 600,000 people who were already displaced by previous conflicts.
Many people have fled east and settled in overcrowded displacement camps outside Goma, the region’s capital, with little to no access to food, water, or shelter. The conditions in these camps have contributed to concurrent spikes in malnutrition and highly contagious diseases including measles and cholera.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has called for a scale-up of humanitarian aid in the region to address these compounding crises. We are looking to our most committed supporters—like you, friend—to help us fill critical gaps in care.
Our ability to quickly respond to crises like those in DRC is made entirely possible by the generous, unrestricted support of MSF donors. We can’t hesitate to prepare for the next emergency—we must be ready now.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
