Just over a year ago, I was shockingly diagnosed with cancer after a car accident in Spain.

Since then, I’ve undergone surgery to remove the tumors, and been prescribed a monthly medication that costs $24,000 before insurance.

While I am deeply fortunate that my insurance is able to cover the price and leave me with an out-of-pocket cost that is much more manageable, that is not always the reality.

Millions of Americans right now have no insurance. No one should have to suffer with physical or mental illness because they can’t afford necessary treatment.
