John,
About a year ago, on the night of Trump’s 2019 State of the Union, our movement prepared for the release of the Green New Deal Resolution in Congress by hosting 282 watch parties across the country. At the time it was the biggest event our movement had ever held.
Then we confronted our leaders in Congress, went on strike, and made 2019 into a historic year for our movement.
Last night -- less than a year after those 282 watch parties -- tens of thousands of people joined 2471 Launch Parties to kick off our 2020 strategy. Just imagine what can come next.
But defeating Donald Trump and giving the next President an overwhelming mandate to enact the Green New Deal isn’t going to be easy. Events like last night matter a lot, but what really makes the difference is what we all do in the days after.
To pull off massive strikes on Earth Day this April, we need thousands of people to gather a few friends and build the movement where they live by starting a Strike Circle.
When you sign up for a strike circle you’ll start a 6 week program to learn about social movements and the Green New Deal, build relationships, and take action to get your people at your school, workplace, or neighborhood to join a strike on Earth Day. You don’t need to have done anything like this before, all you need is a few friends. You’ll start with an orientation call and then we'll give you a coach, weekly meeting agendas, and videos to show at meetings.
Can you step up and start a strike circle?
We’ve come a long way together, but unbelievably powerful forces will be fighting us every step of the way from here. We have the tools to win, but nothing about the future is for certain. It’s all in our hands.
If even half of the people reading this email today step up to join a Strike Circle, we will be able to bring hundreds of thousands of young people into our movement for the first time on Earth Day, and keep our incredible trajectory of growth going. Can you be one of those people?
Sign up for your Strike Circle Orientation Call now to get started.
In one year, things will be different again. How different, and in what way, is all up to us.
