Hey John, amidst the Supreme Court’s misguided attacks on LGBTQ rights, student loan forgiveness, and fundamental equality, there was a bit of good news last month:

In a win for the Voting Rights Act , the Supreme Court ruled that Alabama and Louisiana must redraw their congressional maps to ensure fair representation for Black voters.

These rulings could also pave the way for fairer maps in Texas, Florida, and North Carolina — but the truth is that without decisive Senate action, the right to vote will still be subject to the whims of the Supreme Court.

I don’t need to remind you how slim the margins are in Congress.

Democrats have a 51-49 majority in the Senate, and in the House, Republicans are clinging to a majority of just 4 seats.

Both chambers of Congress are up for grabs in 2024 along with the White House — that’s why we must act to protect voting rights now.
