Plastics are one of the most pervasive pollutants in the world.
John,
Today, we wanted to tell you about an effort led by SEEC Member Lloyd Doggett (TX) and more than 60 other pro-climate members of Congress to urge the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to take a stronger stance on plastic waste.
In a letter sent to the EPA, Rep. Doggett and other SEEC Members call on the agency to create actionable plans to reduce plastic pollution by eliminating the agency’s use of single-use plastic products, creating new standards to minimize microplastics in waterways, and establishing a community right-to-know for the production of any new chemicals involved in the creation of plastics.
These members know that plastic waste is not only a threat to our environment, but also to public health. We’re breathing, drinking, and consuming invisible specks of plastic. Plastic pollution endangers our animals, leaches dangerous cancer-causing chemicals into our waters, and never, ever goes away.Every piece of plastic ever produced still exists. Will you support SEEC Members’ work to reduce and regulate plastic pollution in the United States?
