Two years ago, the Supreme Court rejected a challenge to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) brought by 18 Republican-led states in California v. Texas by a 7-2 vote. This was the third time in less than 10 years that our nation’s highest Court ruled against broad challenges to the law.
The ACA has survived a litany of legal attacks aimed at tearing it down, stripping millions of Americans’ access to health care with it. It’s hard to fathom how the GOP justifies their relentless crusade against the very people they were elected to serve.
On the other hand, before she was elected to Congress, Lauren spent her career as a registered nurse working to expand access to health care for folks in Illinois and across our country — from helping implement the Affordable Care Act, to working with communities to prevent, prepare for and respond to public health emergencies and other disasters while working for the Obama administration.
In her first year in Congress, Lauren passed legislation through the House to protect the ACA against ongoing Republican attacks. And we can count on her to keep advocating for folks’ health care in IL-14 and across the country.
If you support Lauren’s work for the wellbeing of all Americans, will you add your name to let us know? It’s important that our team keeps up our energy and efforts toward protecting the ACA and our right to quality, affordable health care >>>
Thanks for reading and letting us know you’re still with us on this critical issue.
