We should be able to rely on the media as a neutral space where we can expect honest, accurate information.
But in our internet-dominated society, where social media platforms are designed to spread information quickly among similar circles, unprecedented levels of misinformation have run rampant.
The more people fall prey to climate misinformation, the more difficult it becomes to build our movement and actually tackle the very real and serious consequences of the climate crisis.
And even when platforms claim to have policies to fight misinformation, they are not always true to their word. For example, a new report from the Climate Action Against Disinformation coalition found that Google has failed to enforce its policy to demonetize YouTube videos that contain climate disinformation.
It’s time for this madness to stop.
Friend, join us in holding the media and Big Tech companies accountable for promoting climate change deniers and spreading their lies by signing our petition >>
Thanks for speaking up with us.
