AG Nessel Expresses Support for UPS Teamsters in Their Contract Negotiations as Strike Looms
|
|
LANSING ? Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is expressing her solidarity with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters who work at the United Parcel Service (UPS) as they collectively bargain for fair wages, safe working conditions, affordable health care, and dignified retirement.?
In the event that a fair and equitable collective bargaining agreement cannot be reached with UPS, Nessel supports the rights of the UPS Teamsters to utilize their existing contractual and legal remedies. ?
?I am a strong supporter of unions and workers? rights and support the Teamsters in their fight for improved benefits and fair wages,? Nessel said. ?UPS? work is critical for Michigan residents and businesses alike, and I urge UPS to come to a fair resolution for their employees and avoid an interruption of commerce.??
The union represents roughly 340,000 UPS employees. Negotiations between UPS and its Teamster-represented workers broke down last week and the workers? current contract is set to expire at the end of this month.?
