This past Tuesday, July 4th, I traveled to St. Marys, St. George, and St. Simons Island to commemorate America's 247th birthday! Being able to look out and see generations of patriotic Americans waving flags and holding up signs gave me more hope than ever in our country. I am truly humbled and honored to be your representative in Congress!
This Congress, House Republicans are committed to upholding the values that America was founded on. I have been proud to support legislation, like H.R. 2, that will secure our border and reform some issues in the immigration process. I was also proud to vote for the Fiscal Responsibility Act that cuts government spending for the first time in years.
Without these critical protections, the freedoms we celebrated on Tuesday could cease to exist. Congress must continue to honor those who have stood up for our rights against those who wish to do us harm.
Rep. Carter commemorating the Fourth with constituents in the St. Marys Golf Cart Parade, after the parade he discussed multiple local issues with constituents including his new Right Whale legislation.
Rep. Carter in St. George's to discuss pressing local issues such as the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.
Rep. Carter waving to constituents in the St. Simons Island Golf Cart Parade, while there he also discussed issues such as Veteran Benefits and the upcoming National Defense Authorization Act.
Being able to speak with constituents on issues impacting our community, such as drug pricing and spending reform, is important to me. While at these events, I heard about many concerns from you, such as the need for tax reform and passport assistance. Rest assured, my staff and I will continue to work on these issues.
