We started the Patients Over Profits pledge because we know that private insurers, pharmaceutical corporations, and private hospitals are spending millions of dollars each year in direct campaign contributions. It’s a key pillar of their efforts to maintain control over our democracy and health care system.
Toxifying the contributions of the corporate health care industry in our elections is part of our longer-term strategy to win Medicare for All. We know that in order to win Medicare for All, we’ll need to take on the influence of the corporate health care industry and work to change the political environment itself.
