1. Cows love to play!Whether it’s by galloping, bucking, play-fighting, gamboling, chasing after balls, or a combination of all five, cows love to play just for the joy of it, and it also helps them learn important herd social skills.
2. Cows know who you are.They can distinguish between objects according to geometric shape, size, color, and brightness. Their ability to tell one object from another is not limited to shapes but includes humans!
3. Cows have culture. By observing her fellow cows, an individual can pick up on and learn behaviors passed down generations. This learning method is called “social learning” –– and forms the basis of culture.
4. Cows experience a broad range of emotions. Not only do they experience basic emotions like joy and fear, but also complex emotions like grief.
5. Cows depend on each other for emotional support. They react less intensely to negative stresses when with friends and family members; moreover, the mere presence of others in their social circle can calm them.
6. Fierce motherly love is a trait widely shared among cow moms. Mother cows and their calves form a strong emotional bond immediately after birth.
