Hunger destroys childhoods, John. Even in the happiest of families.
A few years ago, Thilini’s* girls were eager learners. Their father was a fitness instructor — and on sunny days, they’d head to the park and play together.
Now, one need overrides all the rest: finding food.
Their household expenses doubled when Sri Lanka’s economy collapsed, making rice, milk and other staples hard to afford.
“When my children fall sick, I struggle to make sure they have the right nutrition,” Thilini shared. “I rarely have eggs for all three… and my husband and I never eat them.”
Families like hers can’t stave off hunger without support, John — and Congress needs to hear it. [[link removed]]
The Farm Bill helps communities around the world survive, thrive and feed themselves. Investing in these programs means reaching millions more people facing severe hunger.
With a few small tweaks, Congress can make the Farm Bill even stronger — so one day, Thilini’s children don’t have to worry about empty bellies.
Let’s tell lawmakers to build a better Farm Bill! [[link removed]]
