[link removed] [[link removed]] John, this is going to be a long email, but it’s an important one.

Donald Trump was responsible for the attack on the Capitol on January 6th.

This is something you may have seen us say before, but how do we know?

Well, because the people who participated in the attack said so.

In fact, 174 defendants said they were answering Trump’s call when they went to Washington and joined the violent attack on the Capitol.

For example, after Trump tweeted, “Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!” Kelly Meggs, a Florida member of the Oath Keepers, wrote in a message around the time of the post, “He called us all to the Capitol and wants us to make it wild!!! Sir Yes Sir!!! Gentlemen we are heading to DC pack your shit!!”

[[link removed]] Another defendant wrote in her group chat, “[W]e’re going back to Washington January 6th. Trump has called all patriots. If the electors don’t elect, we will be forced into civil war.”

John, a mass mobilization of Trump supporters from at least 37 states responded to Trump’s rallying cries as direct orders.

Donald Trump incited the insurrection — plain and simple. He is disqualified from holding office under the 14th Amendment for engaging in insurrection — and that needs to be enforced.
CREW plans to take action to prevent Trump from ever serving as president again under the 14th Amendment. But as you may know, taking on Trump isn’t easy – we’re going to need your help. While Trump had already convinced many supporters to attack the Capitol before even arriving in Washington, many who came to the city at Trump’s request were convinced to join the attack by his direct appeals to the crowd at his Stop the Steal rally on the morning of January 6th.

When Trump went off script, he told the massive crowd: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol” to “fight like hell.”

According to CREW’s analysis, 94 people specifically cited those remarks as the reason they went to the Capitol. >> [[link removed]]

And that doesn’t even include rally-goers who were incited by Trump and swarmed the Capitol but were not arrested.

Last year, CREW took action and helped remove Couy Griffin, a January 6th participant, from public office in New Mexico using Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment. He was a member of the mob who did not individually engage in violence or enter the Capitol building, but he still engaged in insurrection and contributed to law enforcement’s difficulty in regaining control of the Capitol.

He was held accountable, and Trump should be too.

The January 6th Select Committee minced no words in laying blame for the insurrection directly on Donald Trump. CREW’s analysis bolsters that argument.

Donald Trump is disqualified from ever holding public office again under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Protecting our democracy means preventing those who tried to overthrow our government from leading it.
