You are invited to join our next trade union webinar - Defence sector workers, peace and climate change: a just transition

In June, it was reported that Rolls-Royce was doubling the size of its Derby plant along with the creation of over 1,000 new jobs. The announcement comes amid a boost in MoD funding, with the bulk of the expansion feeding contracts to produce nuclear reactors for submarines built under the AUKUS military pact.

But should billions of pounds be spent supporting jobs in the military and nuclear industries when this funding could instead be invested in solving the climate crisis or fixing our crumbling public services?

This webinar organised by CND's Trade Union Advisory Group will look at the developments in Derby, together with the support for increased military spending at last year's TUC conference. It will also discuss strategies for securing a just transition for those working in the defence sector into the decarbonised and peace economies.
