** Over 55s Fayre
------------------------------------------------------------
It was a pleasure to welcome residents from Finchley and Golders Green for my seventh Over 55s Advice and Information Fayre at Golders Green Synagogue in May.
The aim of these Fayres is to offer my over-55 constituents the chance to speak to a wide range of statutory, voluntary, and social activity groups that operate locally, in order to show what they have to offer. Residents had the opportunity to hear from over 35 charities and organisations.
The response each time I host one of these events has always been extremely positive, and I look forward to holding another one soon.

** Say NO to Overdevelopment
------------------------------------------------------------
New homes are needed in London, but I believe each housing development must be proposed with due consideration to the area and the impact it will have on local services.
Those who live in my constituency seek to lead a suburban lifestyle, not city-centre living under an oppressive skyline of high-rise tower blocks.
I will continue to oppose overdevelopment, whether this is at the Homebase site on the A1000, Finchley Memorial Hospital, or at Finchley Central station, where I challenged Mayor Khan on his plans to build a 22-storey tower block.
I will continue to defend the Green Belt against development and will always engage with residents on plans that would significantly change the area.

** Say NO to Mayor Khan's ULEZ expansion
------------------------------------------------------------
I am well aware of the Mayor of London’s plans to expand the ULEZ to cover more of London, and I have made my position on this clear: this would have a disproportionate effect on our local community – forcing people who own older vehicles to either pay high daily charges or get a new car – when times are particularly hard with the cost of living.
The Mayor and the Labour Party in London have already increased the tax burden on Londoners and are now intending to do so again.
I will continue to voice my opposition to policies introduced by the Mayor that have an undeniably detrimental impact on the lives of my constituents.

** EV Charging
------------------------------------------------------------
This year, the Government has given London Borough of Barnet (LBB) £5.19m to invest in new electric vehicle (EV) charging points, setting the borough up to host more than 1/6 of all EV on-street charging points in London.
This is on top of the £3.5m grant awarded in 2021, and the £1.65m provided in 2022 to deliver over 100 new charge points through the Department for Transport’s Local EV Infrastructure Fund Pilot.
This is a vital step in ensuring that we have the necessary infrastructure as more drivers turn to electric vehicles, and is a testament to the work of local Conservative councillors who have helped drive this forward.

** Breast Cancer Screening UPDATE
------------------------------------------------------------
Breast cancer is an issue that I have been intimately involved in for much of my time in public life. Following my campaign for its installation, I was delighted to have been present to witness the opening of a permanent digital breast screening unit at Finchley Memorial Hospital, which has served my constituents since 2018.
Over the past five years, the unit has served approximately 32,000 people from the local area, a fantastic achievement for an undeniably positive addition to Finchley.
The Covid-19 pandemic inevitably took a toll on breast cancer screening across the country. That is why it is imperative that screening numbers improve, and why breast screening remains a key public health priority both for me personally and the Government I am proud to be a part of.
I will continue to campaign to improve breast screening uptake, and to encourage all who are eligible to attend a screening as soon as they can.

** Report a Pothole
------------------------------------------------------------
I have listened to the concerns of residents across Finchley & Golders Green about the poor condition of our local roads and the growing number of potholes that aren't being repaired.
If you know of a pothole that needs fixing, or a road surface that requires attention, please use the reporting tool on my website. I will then raise the issue with London Borough of Barnet and request that a repair is carried out.

** Elizabeth Tower tour tickets
------------------------------------------------------------
After 6 years of reconstruction, repair, and renewal, the Elizabeth Tower – housing the world-famous Big Ben bell – has now been reopened to the public for tours.
In addition to commercial tours, which will run from Wednesday 14th June 2023, Members of Parliament have the opportunity to book a number of tours for their constituents.
If you would like to request a ticket for an Elizabeth Tower tour, please fill out your details in the form available on my website.
