Hey ,

I bet you’re wondering if Recovering Ourselves is for you. 💭💭

The origin of the word recover is “to regain consciousness” (anglo-french), “to come back, return” (old french). In a world that is designed to disconnect and distract us, it’s essential to take inventory of everything that is in the way of our wholeness (old beliefs and behaviors) so that we can build a capacity to break patterns and break through. Recovery is for ALL of us who have become lost along the way and who are yearning to return to ourselves and each other.

Here are some questions to help you reflect on if this is you:

  • Do you find yourself reaching for things outside of yourself to feel validated and complete?
  • Are you exhausted from striving for the impossible?
  • Do you find yourself clinging to comfort and the familiar?
  • Are you addicted to perfect and getting it right?
  • Do you find yourself looking to escape discomfort and uncertainty (through wellness, TV, food, substances)?
  • Are you attached to control, being in control, controlling others?
  • Do you feel like you must earn love and support through hard work, merit, fitting in?
  • Do you bypass your needs and desires to accommodate others?
  • Are you performing to be seen, heard, validated?

The list goes on. The good news is, you’re not alone :)

Recovering ourselves: A 12-step Approach to Liberation weaves new/old wisdom, neuroscience research, somatic healing, rites and rituals and relational organizing towards a shared practice detox and recovery. Led by recovery specialist, Nikki Myers and movement organizer, Kerri Kelly, this training will be a deep and embodied exploration into how we've been shaped by dominant culture rooted in separation, supremacy and scarcity and what it’s going to take to heal.

The intention of this program is to create the conditions for healing and empower you with practical skills that you can apply to your everyday life. Together we will work with movement, meditation, reflection and action, to explore how we've been shaped by dominant culture and systems and what is in the way of our healing so that we can become not just ready but responsive to the uncertain and unfolding path ahead. It's about putting theory into practice and real-life action.
