Indivisibles,

Summer is here! And much like many of us like to go outside, shed some
layers, and bask in the sunshine while it’s here, we here at Indivisible
Project are also diving into a new summer look. For us, that means more
precise campaigns to ensure we’re being the most proactive and targeted in
our activism -- and it means, for this space, one big change:

We will be scaling back this Newsletter over the summer to make space for
more targeted, specific, and actionable messaging delivered to you.

What does that mean in practice? Well, nothing will be different on your
end. You’ll still be getting emails with our in-depth analysis. We’ll
still be sending you action items. You may notice, though, that they will
be a little more specific in their target audience and action steps. Every
tactic cannot work in every corner of the country and we want to continue
to be responsive to that reality.

Just as our public tactics have to shift with the political environment,
so do our communications with you.

So we’re moving into the summer with a little more intention -- making
sure you're getting exactly what you need while still being informed about
what’s going on across the organization (even if the tactic isn’t
applicable in your community). We’ll be bringing you the same useful
content, just with a little different packaging for a bit.

Powering Progress!

[ [link removed] ]This Thursday, July 13, join us for our Powering Progress Campaign
Launch call at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

Indivisible Project is launching a new campaign to celebrate the tangible
benefits of President Biden’s landmark legislation: the Inflation
Reduction Act (IRA). This historic legislation provides so many benefits
through job creation and investments in renewable energy -- AND it puts in
place new ways to finally hold big corporations accountable by requiring
them to pay their fair share of taxes. For just a taste of those benefits,
it includes:

* Millions of good jobs in clean energy, including solar and wind
projects, battery factories (aka gigafactories), and electric vehicle
manufacturing plants
* Savings for everyday people due to lower prescription drug costs under
Medicare
* $400 billion to improve energy efficiency in buildings, homes, and
schools
* Caps on the cost of insulin at $35 per month for people on Medicare
and holds drug companies accountable for price gouging
* Lowering insurance premiums by an average of $800 for people who buy
insurance on their own, thanks to an extension of the Affordable Care
Act subsidies
* Increased funding for the IRS to go after wealthy check tax cheats and
enforce the tax code

Indivisible Project will be celebrating these accomplishments in order to
increase public awareness of the benefits (if people don’t know that the
benefits exist, they won’t know to take advantage of them) AND prevent
extremist Republicans from enacting their plans to roll back the IRA’s
benefits to the detriment of the American people.

August 16 marks the one-year anniversary of the IRA being signed into law,
and we will be using that opportunity to organize public celebrations
across the country as part of the national Powering Progress Week of
Action.

[ [link removed] ]Sign up for the call this Thursday, July 13 at 8pm ET/5pm PT to learn
more about how we will be supporting this historic piece of legislation!

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Your 4 weekly to-dos

 1. Stay tuned for another big announcement coming later this week. As we
continue our drive to ensure our campaigns are targeted and impactful,
we will have a new campaign rolling out later this week. If you care
about reproductive rights and fair governance, this campaign will be
for you!
 2. [ [link removed] ]Contact your senator and demand they cosponsor the Judiciary Act of
2023. SCOTUS is stacked with justices handpicked by MAGA Republicans
and dark money groups, and it is running out of control. This court
has too much power to be ignored, and if we want our government and
its policies to reflect the will of our beautifully diverse country,
we must restore SCOTUS to a place of legitimacy. Senators Markey and
Smith have reintroduced the Judiciary Act of 2023 to add four justices
to the bench and undo decades of conservative court-packing. Call your
senator and make sure they are signed on today.
 3. When you’re done calling your senator, [ [link removed] ]call your representative and
demand they cosponsor the Judiciary Act of 2023. The MAGA-packed court
has already gutted the Voting Rights Act, attacked workers’ rights,
chipped away at environmental protections, struck down gun safety
laws, and perhaps worst of all, overturned Roe v. Wade. Most recently,
we watched them strip away LGBTQ+ protections, reverse student debt
relief, and end Affirmative Action while we looked on in horror. We
must do everything that we can to unrig the Republican court. [ [link removed] ]Check
here to see if your representative has signed on as a cosponsor; if
not, call them today!
 4. If you have a Republican representative (or are represented by Henry
Cuellar), [ [link removed] ]demand they protect abortion rights. House Democrats have
introduced a discharge petition to get around Kevin McCarthy and force
a vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act which would restore
abortion protections nationwide. [ [link removed] ]The majority of Americans support
access to safe abortions and that number continues to rise. Every
Democrat except for Cuellar has signed on the discharge petition, we
need just seven more signatures to force the vote. Call your
Republican representative today.

P.S. We count on the small dollar donors to help fund this movement! If
you're able, [ [link removed] ]please pitch in today to support the grassroots organizing
that powers our progressive movement.

 Indivisible Action Campaigns

Having a little trouble remembering what campaigns Indivisible Action is
running right now? Not sure what’s going on in the red districts because
you’re firmly in a blue district or vice versa? No problem. Here’s a
little refresher as Indivisible Action has multiple campaigns running,
ensuring we’re responsive to the threat of the MAGA majority while
supporting Democrats in the work they’re doing to hold our country
together in spite of MAGA Republican threats.

Anti-MAGA:

The MAGA movement at the core of the Republican Party is the single
greatest threat to democracy in the U.S., and one of Indivisible Action’s
top priorities in 2023 and 2024 is to undermine and defeat it --
legislatively and electorally.

Far-right MAGA forces in the House of Representatives have seized the
levers of power, and in states and localities across the country MAGA
extremists are injecting their right-wing politics into schools, election
administration, and every other corner of civic life. The threat to our
country and our democracy remains grave, and the Anti-MAGA campaign is
committed to fighting it aggressively.

How do we fight back? By picking strategic conflicts that meet these
criteria:

* The Republican position must be unpopular
* The issue cannot “both sides” Democrats
* And the issue must be highly visible and impactful for voters,
especially among the persuadable portion of the electorate.

This means issues like abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, education, and book bans
all fit the criteria. If 2022 taught us anything, it is that being loud
and clear about the extreme positions Republicans are taking and their
stark divide from the will of the American people is a winning formula.

The Anti-MAGA campaign will continue taking everything Indivisible Action
learned from the 2022 election and using it to fight back against MAGA
extremism where it lives.

Strengthening the Democratic Brand:

While the Anti-MAGA work is necessary for beating back the tide of
extremism, there must also be a strong Democratic party to take the reins.
If we are going to win back the House, hold the Senate, codify Roe,
balance the court, ban assault weapons, and generally create the inclusive
and fair democracy that we all dream of, Democrats are going to need a
winning coalition to deliver.

How can this campaign draw contrast to GOP extremism while broadening and
strengthening the Democratic coalition? By identifying issues that fit
three criteria:

* They address everyday people’s economic well being
* They advance our democracy
* They protect our personal freedoms.

Focusing on issues that meet these criteria reminds Democrats, and the
American people, that these political fights are about more than posturing
and power plays; they are about the future of our society.

Indivisible Action is currently working with groups across the country to
identify new strategic, on-message fights that Indivisibles believe in
that meet these criteria and will be rolling out more on those soon.

Indivisible Action’s work this cycle will be vital for winning a trifecta
and ensuring a just and representative democracy moving forward. As you
can see, these tactics will run a wide range of possibilities depending on
where the fight is taking place, who is involved, and who your
representative may be.

You may hear more about the Democratic side or the Anti-MAGA side because
of your location, but the strategy encompasses all directions, and we’re
glad to have you with us in the fight.

[9]WE LOVE TO SEE IT!

***In the 2023 Indivisible Guide, one of the most important things we
wanted to see was our representatives show up as fighters! We need
representatives that work for the people, not just their bank accounts
and special interests! So, why not highlight those fighters? We Love To
See It! will highlight the work being done by reps fighting for everyday
people’s well being, advancing democracy, and/or protecting personal
freedoms. Let’s stand up for our representatives when they stand up for
us! We Love To See It!***

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, TX-30

[ [link removed] ]Still image of Rep. Jasmine Crockett taking Lauren Boebert to task on
common sense gun laws

In the debate about common sense gun regulation, Democrats are often
painted as idealistic extremists who don’t know the difference between a
pistol and a shotgun. Rep. Crockett takes the time here to express that
even though she is a registered firearm owner, the framers of the
constitution expected a modicum of common sense and not only are
Republicans ignoring their duty to anticipate unintended consequences, but
also ignoring “foreseeable consequences.” [ [link removed] ]Watch the whole clip here.

Rep. Lucy McBath, GA-07

[ [link removed] ]Still of a video of Lucy McBath. Tweet reads: We've experiences more
mass shootings this year than there have been days. Gun violence is the
challenge of our lifetime and the issue of our era. We have filed today's
discharge petition because we have been sent to Congress to use every tool
to help save American lives.

Rep. McBath filed a discharge petition on the Assault Weapons Ban of 2023.
In an impassioned video, McBath lays it out clearly, “an entire generation
of children are learning that the adults they look up to cannot or will
not protect them…we must summon the courage to do what is right.”

**Bonus Points: If you see your rep showing up as a fighter and want to
highlight them, reply to this email with a link to the story and we
might feature it in our next Newsletter.**

 National Events

[ [link removed] ]RSVP for a movement call with Public Citizen and the Not Above the Law
Coalition on the Trump indictments on Thursday, July 20 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump and his MAGA co-conspirators engaged in
a criminal conspiracy to unlawfully overturn an election they knew they
lost resulting in a violent and deadly insurrection against the United
States. Next Thursday, in coalition with movement partners, come learn
about how we can take action to hold Trump accountable.
