Terri Sewell is the proud product of Alabama’s rural Black Belt and has spent her life fighting for Alabama communities. From her time as one of the only black public finance lawyers in Alabama, when she delivered financing for new campus facilities at Alabama State University, Tuskegee University, and Stillman College, to her work as Congresswoman for Alabama’s 7th District, Terri Sewell has delivered results every step of the way. On June 25, 2013, the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and unleashed a wave of voting restrictions across the nation targeting Black and minority voters. And as last week’s shocking rulings show, they’re not slowing down when it comes to rolling back the rights of our country’s most vulnerable.

As the author and lead sponsor of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, Rep. Sewell is proud to continue leading the fight in Congress to restore the full protections of the Voting Rights Act and protect the sacred right to vote for every eligible American.

That’s why, last week, she convened an amazing group of voting rights advocates, like Maya Wiley, Tona Boyd and Jerome Dees, to talk about the impact of the Shelby County decision, the road ahead for voting rights, and how we ensure access to the ballot for every eligible American.

Times are hard right now, and last week’s Supreme Court decisions show exactly what is at stake in our current political climate and exactly how important it will be to flip the House, hold the Senate, and keep the White House blue in 2024.

That means getting every single person out to vote. Because we know: When Democrats vote, we win.

But we can’t do it alone. We need you in this fight. Can you chip in $5, $10, or even $15 to help our campaign have the resources we need to turn out every vote in 2024? We have to start now.
