keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The June NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the June edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of stories and happenings from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. From opening the doors on new businesses to honoring Northeast Wisconsin's military heroes, June was a busy month where my team and I witnessed the best of our communities. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, Getting to the teeth of the matter: On June 17, I visited the Wisconsin Dental Association's (WDA) Mission of Mercy event held at the KI Convention Center in downtown Green Bay. During this event, children and adults are provided with free dental care, from cleanings and fillings to extractions and limited partial dentures. These exceptional services are provided by dental professionals and students from across the state. Skating Around NEW: On June 15, a member of my staff attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for Green Bay Action Sports Organization (GBASO) in Ashwaubenon. GBASO is the largest indoor skatepark in the Midwest and includes 20,000 square feet of ramps and railings. Congratulations to GBASO on their new location! Honoring Armin Barth: On June 17, I joined members of the community to honor a local Appleton WWII veteran, Armin Barth, with his High School Diploma from Appleton West High School and a Congressional Gold Medal, which he earned for his heroic service as a member of the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII. I also presented Armin with a congratulatory entry in the Congressional Record, the document that reflects the official proceedings of Congress. I extend my sincere thanks to Armin for his unwavering service and dedication to the United States. Young Leaders: I was honored to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Nathaniel Tomac. For his service project, Nathaniel constructed convertible park and picnic tables for his local church in Green Bay. Congratulations to Nathaniel on achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout! The Wall that Heals: A member of my team had the opportunity to attend the traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Crivitz. The traveling memorial includes the names of 58,281 soldiers who sacrificed their lives serving their country. The wall was placed near the Crivitz-Stephenson Area Museum with over 200 local veterans in attendance. Celebrating Milestones: On June 3, Dimensions Living, an assisted living community in Green Bay, celebrated their one-year anniversary. To commemorate this event, they had a celebration with local vendors, prizes, live entertainment, food trucks, and more. Congratulations to Dimensions Living on their one-year anniversary! Door County History Days: A member of my staff had the opportunity to attend the kick-off event for the 2023 Door County History Days at the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay. During the second annual history days, residents can explore over 25 cultural and historical sites, from the Belgian Heritage Center in Brussels to the Death's Door Maritime Museum in Gills Rock. I hope all residents of Door County enjoyed the 2023 Door County History Days! Honoring Heroes of NEW: On June 6, a member of my staff attended the homecoming of local heroes with the Old Glory Honor Flight Mission 62 at the Appleton International Airport (ATW). Old Glory Honor Flight has operated their mission since 2009 and has remained dedicated to flying local veterans to see the war memorials in Washington, D.C. To date, Old Glory Honor Flight has provided thousands of local veterans, from WWII to Vietnam, with this outstanding opportunity and unique way to honor our military heroes.
