Dear Friend,
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Progressive Maryland 7/10 Black Workers Center. The project aims to organize Black workers in Maryland, especially those who were formerly incarcerated, to fight for a change in local economic development policies for the benefit of working class people instead of wealthy developers and exploitative corporations. Along with the launch of this new campaign, we welcome our new organizer who will oversee the Progressive Maryland 7/10 Black Workers Center, Shannon Talbert.
We will focus on supporting returning residents, offering targeted resources, mentorship programs, and skills training to aid their successful reentry and employment opportunities. Additionally, the center will advocate for fair labor practices, promoting fair wages, safe working conditions, and equitable opportunities for advancement. By housing these initiatives together, we create an empowering environment for Black workers in Maryland, specifically focused in Prince George’s County.
We look forward to sharing news about additional resources that will be made available to workers of color in Maryland. Together we can build a future where every Black worker has equal opportunities, receives fair compensation, and experiences respect and dignity in the workplace. Stay connected for upcoming opportunities to join the Black Workers Center and make a lasting impact in our community.
In Solidarity,
Larry and The Progressive Maryland Team
