We’re excited to bring you some news on the current Texas Special Session of the Texas Legislature! It appears that Texas House and Senate leaders have finally reached a breakthrough deal on reforming Texas’ property tax system, and bringing much-needed relief to Texans.

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick released a statement earlier today announcing a deal between the two chambers to provide relief to Texas property owners.

The deal includes:
Over $12 billion will be spent on reducing the school property tax rate for all homeowners and business properties.
Raising the homestead exemption to $100,000 for everyone who homesteads their home.
Franchise tax exception increases.
A 20% appraisal cap on commercial and rental properties valued below $5 million.
