** Does the green elite have any thoughts on these stolen childhoods?
------------------------------------------------------------
CapX ([link removed]) (1/28/20) blog: "Two weeks ago a Boeing 737 on final approach to Dire Dawa, Ethiopia, flew into a massive cloud of locusts swarming above the airport. The insects were sucked into the plane’s engines and splattered across the windshield, blinding the pilots to the runway ahead...The locusts that almost brought down the 737 are part of the worst infestation to hit Africa in 75 years. Swarms of locusts can blanket 460 miles at a time and consume more than 400 million pounds of vegetation a day...The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization calls the threat 'unprecedented,' but attempts at aerial spraying have been too little, too late, largely because of FAO’s own politically-driven agenda to limit pesticides, and experts fear Africa may once again be tilting toward widespread famine. As poor farmers futilely shoo the voracious insects away with sticks, this modern plague highlights the urgent need for pesticides to protect
crops and save lives. It also casts into stark relief the tragic consequences of UN, European and environmentalist campaigns to deny these life-saving chemicals to developing nations...Modern pesticides are among the most carefully tested and regulated chemicals in use and they are used increasingly in targeted precise ways to limit wider environmental impacts. Most importantly modern farming allows us to produce more food on less land."

** "This move by the Trump administration marks another promise made and another promise kept. The President promised to drain the DC swamp and unwrap the red tape from around the American people. The WOTUS rule is one of the more invasive federal regulations on the books, and it is past time for it to be redefined."

Crazy Bernie and Sleepy Joe fighting over who's plan to make America "carbon-free" is less crazy.

** Washington Examiner ([link removed])
(1/29/20) reports: "Joe Biden told a voter that no scientists agreed that his presidential primary rival Bernie Sanders's plan to combat climate change could work. The Sanders campaign responded by releasing a list of 57 scientists who agree with him. 'The Green New Deal you are proposing is not only possible, but it must be done if we want to save the planet for ourselves, our children, grandchildren, and future generations,' said the statement signed by the scientists on Tuesday. 'Not only does your Green New Deal follow the [United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] timeline for action, but the solutions you are proposing to solve our climate crisis are realistic, necessary, and backed by science.' The list includes professors and researchers across the country and abroad, such as Peter Kalmus of UCLA, Sonya Legg of Princeton University, and Daniel M. Kammen of University of California, Berkeley. Last week, Biden, 77, told a voter in New Hampshire that the Vermont
senator's climate plan was unrealistic. 'Not a single solitary scientist think it'd work,' said the former vice president. 'You can not get to zero emissions by 2030. It's impossible.' The Sanders campaign's Green New Deal plan calls to 'reduce domestic emissions by at least 71% by 2030 and reduce emissions among less industrialized nations by 36% by 2030,' as well as 'achieve 100% sustainable energy for electricity and transportation by no later than 2030 and to fully decarbonize the economy by 2050 at the latest.' Biden's climate plan calls to 'establish an enforcement mechanism to achieve net-zero emissions no later than 2050.'"

Why are they scared of letting people hear the other side of an issue if the facts are on their side?

** Notes On Liberty ([link removed])
(1/28/20) blog: "Yesterday, the Chair of the U.S. House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis wrote an ominous letter to the CEO of Google. For the second time, the Chair is leaning on Google to police and remove 'dangerous climate misinformation' on YouTube. The letter doesn’t threaten direct legal action against Google, but it nonetheless raises serious concern because it runs so counter to the free speech tradition and the value of a robust internet. According to the Chair, 'YouTube has been driving millions of viewers to climate misinformation videos every day, a shocking revelation that runs contrary to Google’s important missions of fighting misinformation and promoting climate action.' The Chair states her own unequivocal commitment to 'promoting ambitious federal policy that will…eliminate barriers to action, including those as pervasive and harmful as climate denial and climate misinformation.' It’s hard not to see the veiled threat here...When I see such zealous effort to shut
someone up, I can’t help but ask myself why the censor is so afraid."

All signs point to...

** Utility Dive ([link removed])
(1/28/20) reports: "Late last October, when Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) shut off power to vast swaths of its service territory in anticipation of heightened fire conditions, four towns in Northern California managed to keep the lights on, in part. The towns — Angwin, Calistoga, Placerville and Grass Valley — are part of PG&E's effort to build a network of 'resilience zones' and temporary microgrids in portions of its service territory that are especially vulnerable to fire-related outages. PG&E deployed 23 MW of temporary generation in the four towns, the utility reported, powering fire stations, medical centers and business districts and keeping more than 4,800 customers energized during the public safety power shut-off (PSPS). PG&E is aiming to 'support community normalcy by providing power continuity,' using the temporary microgrids, utility spokesperson Paul Doherty told Utility Dive. 'I would say this was definitely a bright spot in the PSPS — I saw some folks internally talk about
light in a sea of darkness,' he added."

Get ready for the Rolls-Royce of nuclear energy.

(1/24/20) reports: "Manufacturer Rolls-Royce has told the BBC's Today program that it plans to install and operate factory-built power stations by 2029. Mini nuclear stations can be mass manufactured and delivered in chunks on the back of a lorry, which makes costs more predictable. But opponents say the UK should quit nuclear power altogether. They say the country should concentrate on cheaper renewable energy instead. Environmentalists are divided over nuclear power, with some maintaining it is dangerous and expensive, while others say that to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 all technologies are needed. However, the industry is confident that mini reactors can compete on price with low-cost renewables such as offshore wind. Rolls-Royce is leading a consortium to build small modular reactors (SMRs) and install them in former nuclear sites in Cumbria or in Wales. Ultimately, the company thinks it will build between 10 and 15 of the stations in the UK."
