My body was immediately engulfed in flames.
I remember thinking “How long will it be before I burn to death?”
But despite our enemy’s best efforts, I survived.
By the grace of God, one of my soldiers was able to extinguish the flames and save my life as I was staring death in the face.
I truly shouldn’t be alive today.
For three years, I went through over 30 surgeries to recover from my wounds.
I was bed bound, and over 30% of my body was permanently scarred.
But this experience taught me the most important and valuable lesson that I’ve ever learned:
Putting it all on the line in service to the American people is the greatest honor imaginable.
That’s why every day since I nearly lost my life, I’ve dedicated every fiber of my being to continue my service to the greatest country in the history of mankind.
John, I’m telling you all this because I’m hoping that I can count on your financial support — but I don’t want to ask you to part with your hard-earned money without telling you my story.
The American people DESERVE a champion who can stand in the fight without flinching. With your help, I can be that champion.
