A Big Win in the Fight Against Big Tech Censorship |
Let Freedom Ring: In a very timely decision on Independence Day, a federal judge compared the Biden administration to Orwell’s Ministry of Truth in “1984” and banned the federal government from pressuring tech companies to censor online speech.
- Tyler O’Neil, managing editor of The Daily Signal, reports that the judge’s order bars federal officials from meeting with social media platforms to induce “the removal, deletion, suppression, or reduction of content containing protected free speech posted on social media platforms.”
But this isn’t necessarily the end of the story. The Biden administration has a chance to stay the injunction and fight it out in the Fifth Circuit.
- The administration’s “answer is not to pull back on violating people’s rights; it’s to defend the enterprise. It’s to double down on speech as dangerous,” Louisiana Solicitor General Liz Murrill told O’Neil.
