Evolve – Community space, Menopause café and more

*The Evolve hub at Strelley Social Club [ [link removed] ] has grown into a thriving community space that offers free daily activities and a café run by volunteers serving ‘pay what you can’ meals.*

Everything is designed with the community in mind. They have recently started to offer community courses and have been delivering Multiply workshops with Nottingham Forest Community Trust that have been popular. ‘Get Rich Quick’ and the ‘Bake Off’ are just a few of the courses on offer with planned Digital Skills and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) coming up soon.

Evolve is the first community space in the area to start offering a Menopause Café that runs monthly. Everyone is welcome to come and get support and make the most of the specialist advice from NHS representatives that will be attending future sessions. Call Jo if you would like more information on 07305 056424.

Strelley Recreation Ground ??

Strelley recreation ground

*The probation service has been in the park for the last six months. They visit the site a couple of times a week and have undertaken a variety of tasks including:*

* Painting the outside of the Pavilion
* Tree and bulb planting
* Sweeping and litter collection
* Trimming and pruning bushes
* Bark mulching the muddy paths

They are now starting to repaint the park railings around the site, whilst keeping on top of the day-to-day maintenance works. The probation service has been working with the Council’s site staff and it’s become a great partnership. Hopefully they will continue to do improvements works on the site and keep it looking great during the coming months.

Play area on Moor Road
Moor Road Play Area Refurb

*In late 2021 Nottingham Parks and Open Spaces carried out a public consultation to find out how the Moor Road play area should be improved. They then applied for external funding to make the project a reality.*

It took 12 months for the funding to be confirmed and the play area to be installed. This open space is now an exciting, dynamic play area for children. The play area was officially opened in December 2022 by Councillor Wendy Smith in her capacity as Mayor of Nottingham, and Councillors Phil Jackson and Rebecca Langton were also in attendance.

Streets for People programme making good progress
Streets for people

*Over 70 resurfacing schemes have been completed so far across the city.*

In 2021, the council successfully bid as part of a competitive process for money from the Government’s Levelling Up fund to improve streets and local town centres, and make walking and cycling easier and safer.

Nottingham City Council has approved £11million of improvements to make our neighbourhoods greener, safer, better places to get around. Streets that have been improved in Bilborough so far include:

* *Roads* - Burnside Green, Denholme Road and Graylands Road
* *Paths* -  Burnwood Drive, Greystoke Drive and Seagrave Road

We are also setting money aside for tree work and bin replacements. You can find out more by visiting the streets for people website [ [link removed] ].
