Stop the GOP push to cut taxes for corporations and the wealthy

For months, Republicans held our nation’s economy hostage over their demands for caps and cuts to public services for working families―all under the guise of deficit reduction.
But it took them less than a week to introduce and pass out of committee a tax package that hands billions of dollars in tax breaks to private equity firms, billion-dollar corporations, the richest 1%, and foreign investors.
One measure Congressional Republicans are working to extend is a tax break that allowed dozens of major U.S. corporations—including Amazon, Google, and Verizon—to collectively save nearly $67 billion since 2018.
The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy finds that this tax package would provide the poorest fifth of Americans with an average tax cut of just $40 next year while the richest 1% would get an average tax cut of $16,550.
Overall, this tax package will cost trillions of dollars in lost revenue that could be spent on a number of priorities our nation needs. Over and over again, Republicans feign concern over our country’s debt only to turn around and pass tax bills that benefit the ultra-wealthy and billion-dollar corporations at the expense of working families.
