Hi John, it’s Roland Gutierrez.

I have big news to share with you: I’m running for the United States Senate to fix our broken system and defeat Ted Cruz.

After last year’s massacre in Uvalde, the families of the victims and I fought hard to raise the age to purchase assault-style weapons to 21, but Republicans in the legislature refused to even hold a debate. The politicians in Texas have let these families down. They have let all of us down.

I am the son of immigrants. Growing up in San Antonio, my parents taught me that if you work hard for this country, it will work hard for you. Texans are working hard, but Texas leaders aren’t working for them. Our system is broken.

I’m running for the United States Senate because these families deserve better, and ALL of Texas deserves better. From our public schools to healthcare, we’re suffering from a completely broken system, and working-class folks keep getting the short end of the stick.

It’s time for us to change things, and that starts with making sure we’re electing a leader that will actually work for the people instead of becoming a puppet for special interests and corporations.

Unlike Ted Cruz, I’m not a Washington politician that has become corrupted by greed and power. I got into public service to fix things and to build with the communities I serve. We can’t possibly do this alone. That’s what government should be all about: securing a strong future for all our families. And I promise to do just that.
