Planning Commission Recommends Approval of Updated Permanent Dining Regulations
On Thursday, July 6 the Planning Commission voted to recommend that the County Board adopt the Zoning Code amendments that would permit restaurant operators with Temporary Outdoor Seating Areas (TOSAs) to apply for permanent status.
This is a long-awaited victory for restaurant operators who have been waiting for some time to finally have clarity on the status of their TOSAs. The permitting process will be live shortly after the passage of the amendments by the County Board on July 15. The Chamber has been championing enhanced permanent outdoor dining for years and supports it moving forward.
Arlington Economic Development and the Department of Community Planning & Housing Development (CPHD) plan to complete outreach to all TOSA operators to engage with them on the permitting process. The Chamber will be involved in this outreach, and we will update our restaurant members with greater details on the process once they are announced.
