July 2023 CPL Report
Michigan added 2,628 net total CPL holders in June resulting in a new all-time high of 812,555 current CPL holders in Michigan. The rate of the increase slowed from the previous month as is typical in the summer when class numbers drop due to family vacations. This month's full report from the Michigan State Police can be read HERE.
Second Quarter Legal Fundraising Report
During the Second Quarter of 2023, MCRGO members contributed $10,720 in mailed donations plus an additional $2,725.06 in online donations for a total of $13,445.06 to the MCRGO Civil Rights Legal Defense Fund. A check for the account balance of $14,800.00 was transferred to the MCRGO Foundation last week. A portion of these funds are earmarked for planned 2024 litigation against the new gun control laws. The remainder are being used for the ongoing Wade v. University of Michigan case. In addition to these voluntary donations, the MCRGO Board of Directors appropriated $5,000 from the organization's general fund to assist the New Jersey Firearms Owners Syndicate with a case regarding “sensitive areas” (Pistol Free Zones) that may have repercussions on future litigation in Michigan.
