It’s campaign launch time for the Ōhāriu electorate and you are invited!

We are now 97 days away from a hugely important election for New Zealand. National is campaigning to get our country back on track by fixing the economy to reduce the cost of living, restoring law and order and improving our schools and healthcare.

I am excited to be National’s candidate for the Ōhāriu electorate with an historic opportunity to win the seat. Our local team is giving it everything and our campaign is gaining momentum. We are hosting public meetings, door-knocking, phone-calling and leafletting to get the message out there. It’s working: our efforts are being rewarded with growing support, new volunteers and offers of help.

I want you to be included in this movement for change. You can show your support and get behind our campaign by attending our campaign launch. Please buy a ticket today using the button below, or by clicking here <[link removed]>.

Back on Track Tour - Public Meeting with Chris Luxon

Join me and Christopher Luxon for a public meeting hosted in Johnsonville:

When: Wednesday 26 July, 6:00pm.

Where: Johnsonville Community Centre.

It's really exciting to be bringing National's Back on Track Tour to Ōhariu later this month. With huge turnouts nationwide, we are working hard to have the same in Ōhāriu, so mark your calendars.

Labour blows the books

Labour’s failure to manage the economy is translating into to more debt and bigger deficits.

Treasury’s updated accounts, released last week, show that the Government has underestimated how badly the economy is tanking – and now the books have blown out.

Government debt has soared by an additional $5 billion, and the books have been plunged even further into the red, with a deficit that is $2 billion larger than forecast. A weaker economy will only worsen the already significant challenges facing New Zealand.

It’s more evidence that we need an urgent change of direction. The $2 billion shortfall in company tax revenue is an indictment on the Government’s economic management. Businesses are drowning under a tidal wave of new costs, worsening inflation, and these are weighing the economy down.

Labour’s only plan to get through the cost-of-living crisis was more spending and higher taxes. Now the books are blowing out and Kiwis have nothing to show for it. It’s time for a fresh approach. National has a plan to fix the economy, so we can afford the frontline services Kiwis deserve and get New Zealand back on track.

Tawa with Chris Luxon

Christopher Luxon made a visit to Tawa last week. Thanks to all the locals who took the time to say hi, and the business owners who shared with us their stories.

On the tools!

On the tools at our campaign working bee building hoardings! Not long now until they have to go up around Ōhāriu, so if you have a fence that would be perfect for a sign, let me and my campaign team know <mailto:[email protected]>.

Eat Drink Play Festival

Celebrating the Wellington hospo sector a few weeks ago at the kick-off of the Eat Drink Play festival.

Can you help?

My amazing campaign crew and I have been pounding the pavements all across Ōhāriu - delivering more than 60,000 letters to voters so far, and knocking on more than 2000 doors.

But there's so much more to be done, and we need all the help we can get if we want to turn this red-seat blue.

If you want to volunteer on my campaign, help change the Government and help turn Ōhāriu blue, then click the link below:

Out and about around NZ

Great Back on Track Public Meetings in Masterton and Feilding.

Lots of concern about the troubled economy and prolonged cost of living crisis, and out-of-control law and order.

Upcoming events

26 July 2023: Back on Track Tour Public Meeting with Christopher Luxon, Johnsonville Community Centre, 6:00 pm.

27 July 2023: Nicola Willis' Ōhāriu Campaign Launch, The Borough, Tawa, 7:00pm.

If you have any issues you think I may be able to support you with in my role as a List MP, or have ideas on where we can improve as a city, I would love to hear from you.

I’m continuing to enjoy getting out and about in the Ōhāriu community and I’m always keen to be involved in local events. If you know of any local community events I should attend, please do not hesitate to let me know.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance to you.

Kind regards

Nicola Willis
